Example Buoyancy Calculation

Labels:

Most of the people is neutrally buoyant, hence we can assume that a person has
approximately the same density as water Dperson=Dwater=103Kg/m3. Consider a
person who has a mass of 80 Kg. Calculate the buoyancy force acting on a person
when he/she lies at the bottom of a in a pool full of
(Assume g=10 m/s2)

Q1: Air (Density of air: Dair=1Kg/m3)
answer: 0.8 N

Q2: Dead Sea water (Ddsw=1.2 x 103 Kg/m3)
answer: 960 N

For our class on 10th March 2009, please get prepare for the following tasks:
1. Read about Electrostatic
2. Write down 1 paragraph(minimum 20words) about Electrostatic
3. Please submit the task given before class started.

Electrostatic Concept

Labels:

Electrostatic phenomena arise from the forces that electric charges exert on each other. Such forces are described by Coulomb's law. Even though electrostatically induced forces seem to be rather weak, the electrostatic force between e.g. an electron and a proton, that together make up a hydrogen atom, is about 40 orders of magnitude stronger than the gravitational force acting between them.
